A classy fragrance for special events
This fragrance smells wonderfully to me and to many people but not to everybody. It is not an all-rounder that will please everybody.

Nevertheless, it's a very good fragrance with a citrus opening (more verbena than lemon), then a mix of floral and woody notes, with a touch of incense and benzoin in the background.

Sillage and longevity are good with the EDT and excellent with the EDP.

I think the incense and benzoin notes explain why some people don't like it, but it's part of its DNA. It's a wonderful fragrance for a dinner in the evening.

Rivals to Pour Monsieur? Maybe.
Unlike Jaipur, Boucheron PH is a more adequate to heat fresh, citrus fragrance.

It is opposed to the oriental composition of Jaipur.

Although fresh with an excellent opening with verbena and lemon, its drydown reveals itself slightly oriental, but running any sweetness.

The base notes are light and well balanced, with possibly feel a little incense and woods in the background.

Definivamente a classic fragrance that reaches the same audience of Chanel Pour Monsieur, distinguishing this by having less moss.

Duration is excellent, though with little projection.

An inexpensive citrus that does its job.
Though Boucheron perfumes are still available, it is unclear who is making these perfumes now. The Boucheron website does not list any perfumes. The two Boucheron perfumes I know can easily be replaced by many other perfumes, so I am not really mourning for this house.

Boucheron Pour Homme EDT is everything that the notes tell you. The opening is an intense citrus, with the pungent green of bergamot dominating the sweetness of orange. The minor floral notes, if any, are too mild to make an impression. In a few hours, the bergamot and other citrus are joined by some other undefined sweet notes. I assume that this is the floral melange of carnation, rose, jasmine and others, listed as the middle notes. Once these notes fade, the base notes -musk, amber, sandalwood, tonka, benzoin etc - come to the foreground. However, the strong citrus personality pervades all throughout the life of this perfume on my skin. There is also some soapiness associated with this scent. Unfortunately, these qualities bring it closer to common barbershop colognes.

The performance of Boucheron EDP is excellent. The intense citrus at the beginning would label you as the cologne guy at least for the first few hours. The middle notes are strong on my skin for 6-8 hours. Even after twelve hours, I can get a strong whiff of this scent on my skin.

Is this perfume worth the cost? If you are looking for a strong citrus, Boucheron Pour Homme EDP at $29 at US grey market sellers is certainly a bargain. For me, Salvatore Ferragamo Pour Homme is a better, cheaper men’s summer fragrance, because of its fig leaf accord in the opening. I have had Boucheron for many years now, and seldom have I reached for it.

Bogey wouldn't have wrinkled his nose at this
In John Huston's film "The Maltese Falcon," he sits as Sam Spade at his desk, trying to piece together the loose threads of a criminal case, when his secretary Effie hands him a visitor's business card. He sniffs it, irritated, and grimaces - clearly perplexed. Effie helps him out: "Lily of the valley..."

There can be no doubt that the dandyish Joel Cairo (Peter Lorre) did not spray his cards with a scent relative to Boucheron pour Homme, because otherwise Bogey wouldn't have wrinkled his nose. Boucheron is far from a (possibly lily of the valley-dominated) floral scent, as the notes listed here in the heart might suggest, or rather cause concern. On the contrary, Boucheron pour Homme comes across quite classically, and the manufacturer itself does not mention any floral notes on its website.

The opening features citrus and verbena, underpinned by a soapy quality. Although a hint of clove soon breaks through, it remains primarily citrusy for a long time. However, it is neither too sharp nor too sour, instead pleasantly mild and, above all, reliably green and airy. Unpretentious basil contributes its fresh part. The citrus note reaches its peak in a sort of candy-like impression after about an hour.

Alongside the herbal green, a - let’s say - floral aura slowly emerges, which, however, claims no priority, especially not for individual players, but rather becomes increasingly embedded in a clean, foamy cream as the midday progresses. Throughout the afternoon, the latter gradually takes the lead, and it continues in a neatly groomed manner into an almost amber-tinged evening. On the skin, a herbaceous-green-fresh fragment remains consistently present.

I find it difficult to distinguish the scent from others of its era; I certainly do not recognize any unique selling point. Personally, I think it’s good that it never becomes scratchy.

Conclusion: A solid all-rounder for the perhaps olfactorily more conservative gentleman.

I thank Ergoproxy for the sample.

another true gentleman
I must admit: I love them, the almost anachronistic beings - the real gentlemen!
Polite, attentive men who make women feel truly special with their charm and elegance, without being overbearing or unbelievable.
They don’t need to strut like peacocks to attract attention - they have it instantly!
They still exist, but unfortunately, they have become as rare as Alba truffles!

So I encounter "Boucheron pour Homme": committed to nobility and the name of the brand!
Even though I had to solve a riddle before our first meeting:
What, for heaven's sake, is in this little spray bottle from the large sample collection that Meggi sent me?
It comes from our mutual fragrance friend Yatagan; I know his handwriting well.
But, please: What is "pH" after the inscription "Boucheron"?
I, as an opponent of all abbreviations (that's why I often don’t understand them!), was faced with a puzzle, and yet I found the solution after a while (because I just can’t give up!) right there:
“pH” stands for “pour Homme” - oh, “little Me” is once again living behind the moon:
Bonjour, Madame!

One more reason to get acquainted with this fragrance immediately, and the gentleman contained within it delighted me right after the first contact with my skin:
I almost want to say it was a "hand kiss in scent"!

It begins with the spicy presence of a classic citrus collection, accompanied by lavender, verbena, and robust basil.
(My gentlemen, avoid the alleys in Messina, where basil pots stand on low windowsills every evening: Behind those windows lies temptation, and it can be costly.
At least that’s what Giuseppe Tomaso di Lampedusa reports in his successful novel “The Leopard”!
But this is just a literary footnote!)
Green Chypre fragrance sends its regards, and in the background, as so often, the "Guerlinade" stands waiting and ready:
No perfumer of that time can escape this combination of fragrance notes, no matter which brand he creates for!
Thus, this expression aptly explains what follows:
For aromatic garden carnations, elegant, very noble richly blooming roses, and sensual white jasmine can also be found here.
Lily of the valley winks mischievously, and orris root with its earthy-powdery feminine self refines the previous appearance of this fragrant being.
And so this fine gentleman now also strides through a smoky-spicy base:
Friendly greeting oakmoss and vetiver pass by, lingering for a moment with sandalwood and its special dark-laden beauty, and flirts a little with the cheeky, sweet tonka bean before moving into the sensually smoky sphere of benzoin and musk, finally embraced by amber!
Aaah ...

Monsieur “pH” has style! I can’t express it any other way.
Now I also belong to the old-fashioned species that enjoys these small polite gestures with great joy.
I would almost say I was “surprised with joy!” during this encounter with a true fragrance gentleman.
(What a beautiful, expressive sentence I just read.)

With all its unobtrusive elegance, “Boucheron pour Homme” has a rich sillage and a lasting power that lasts several hours, during which the charm and nobility of this fragrance can fully unfold.

Meggi immediately said: You will find much to describe in this fragrance collection!
Oh, yes - she is certainly right!
It is particularly nice for me to be able to start with this classic men's fragrance.
For it kindly and extremely pleasantly opens the door for me, separating me from the discovery of all the surprises in this full shoebox:
Oh, companions in this fragrance world: take heed!

A conclusion?
Yes, gladly!
A charming gentleman's smile, a slight tilt of the head:
“Boucheron pour Homme” is a temptation to which I will gladly give in again and again.

Floral like 1881, barbershop like Azzaro Pour Homme, with a sexy skin-like balminess wrapped in dazzling verbena. Magnificent soapy gem.

Beautiful fougère-like start, followed by a floral-warm and somewhat old-fashioned heart. This makes it a bit limited in use despite its classic nature.
