Does what it should
I love petrichor and I find this scent imitates the smell quite well.

At the same time, it somehow reminds me of my childhood, but I don’t know why it does that.

Longevity and sillage leave a lot to be desired. Even for a cologne…

I believe the scent can be layered well. However, I’m still not sure with what. In that regard, I guess I need to experiment a bit more.

It's worth testing, but I can't imagine this scent being for many people.

A Funeral as a Fragrance
As much as I love the concept, I hate the scent. It lacks neither complexity nor is the fragrance bad per se. I think it’s about me and my previous experiences. When I smell it, I have a strong physical reaction to this scent - complete aversion. I want to get away from it as quickly as possible.

Yes, it reminds one of a rainy day. But it’s not the fresh, beautiful rain that falls on the earth in summer. In this rain, you stand at the cemetery, at a fresh grave. It gives off a grotesque note, like a dark premonition. A dark November day that brings nothing but sorrow. Sweet, musty, wet.

I consciously give the fragrance a good rating, even though I can’t stand it. In my opinion, good art leaves a lasting impression - whether positive or negative.

Here Comes the Flood
Before I delved into Demeter/The Library of Fragrance scents, the term "Petrichor" was completely foreign to me.

At first, I thought it was a silly marketing name, but thanks to the internet, I quickly learned otherwise.

I want to focus on the scent and not too much on the name Petrichor.

Anyone interested can feel free to do some research. The topic is incredibly fascinating and relates to the smells that arise in the air when rain falls on dry earth or rock.
This should suffice as a little background info. :)

Superficially - and aside from the incredibly interesting process that occurs - this EdC reflects that perfectly.
Anyone who has experienced this scent when, after a long heatwave, the long-awaited rain finally pours down on the earth has a rough idea of "Petrichor".

To be honest, I really like the scent "Rain" by Demeter very much.
I wore Rain 4-5 times last week for refreshment.
Rain is also a scent that one initially views with skepticism, but which gradually develops its fascination.

I mention Rain because this component also plays a significant role in "Petrichor".
However, there are some exciting components added here.

I will try to break it down as follows. When you spray the scent, the following happens:

- It’s raining - no, it’s POURING down. Almost like a deluge!
- The earth gets wet, and you can literally feel that it is now steaming due to the previous heat.
- This scent mixture suddenly starts to smell green, mossy, and earthy. This is the most exciting phase, as it remains perceptible the longest,
- Finally, a subtly spicy-peppery-fresh note rises.

I have never smelled anything like this before.

Demeter/TLOF perfectly reflects everything they set out to do with "Petrichor," but in an exciting new way. Thus, for me, it is the perfect scent to transition from summer to autumn.

While "Rain" is a perfect scent for falling asleep, "Petrichor" is much more complex and almost TOO exciting to fall asleep with. It is a wonderfully fresh-wet-green-earthy scent that is unmatched.

Friends of sweet scents will not find joy in this. Nothing about this scent is sweet.

In my opinion, Petrichor is quite unisex; women who have no problem with spicy earthiness will enjoy this.

The longevity is very good, thanks to the earthy notes, especially for an EdC, and the sillage is well perceivable within a meter. For my taste (and job), that is perfect.

And once again, Demeter/TLOF has managed to fascinate me.

After I criticized "Sour Apple Lollipop" here on Parfumo yesterday, I am back in harmony with Demeter :)

What they excel at is capturing memories, sensations, and natural scents.
See "Rain," see "Petrichor," see my 10 out of 10 "Salt Air"

I now understand how to categorize the scents from Demeter. One must not take the scent names too literally; otherwise, one can only be disappointed.

However, if you manage to think outside the box and go inward while sniffing to create images in your mind, you will get a wonderful palette of extraordinary scents.

Does Petrichor manage to create these images? I answer this question with a big:
YES!!!

*little update:
I now also regularly use the scent as a pillow & blanket spray, and I sleep heavenly with it. This is probably also because I sleep best during storms ;)

Petrichor opens aquatic and clean but turns earthier and dirtier on the dry down. Realistic but not necessarily pleasant.

Smells very cucumber-y to me. I do like it and it's pretty close to actual petrichor smell.

very realistic petrichor with a hint of watermelon and cold metal

It doesn't last long, doesn't have a strong sillage - as always for Demeter. But it's good for layering, I like petrichor scent!

I am reviewing new formulation (I think), and this is not petrichor at all. This is some cucumber/melon type of scent, very disappointing

I was warned that I would be disappointed. It's a salivary moisture with a citrus accent... but not a successful petrichor.

Wet, moldy earth in the mangrove forest. Sea water laps at the roots. A crate of fresh cucumbers washes ashore. For expeditions?

I wanted to like it, but unfortunately, it's really creepy. Rain on earth - no. I think more of a metal construction supply warehouse with instant soup.

Less petrichor than in Thunderstorm from the same house, but for those (like me) who have a passion for fresh rain... A Must-Try.

Sour ACE juice on buttery, slightly rancid coconut oil. Fresh-aquatic-fruity-buttery. Sounds bad & is relatively bad too.
