Got high on yuzu and deer musk
Dubai based Ahom World offers limited edition of natural attars and perfumes made from high quality ingredients. The nose behind the brand is Zakir Laskar, who is also one of the creators of another brand, Dixit&Zak.
The name Kasturi refers to the scent of deer musk. The initial blast of the perfume is a mind-blowing mixture of musk, oud and spices. A minute or so later it settles into a chypre like fresh, bitter citrus with green undertones and a prominent animalic, a bit funky deer musk. The musk tincture here, however is not urinous, or meaty but elevating and masterfully blended with spices, lavender, mandarin and yuzu. Musk never goes straight to your face but it always apparent and enhances all the other notes. Later, the yuzu turns to become more prominent accompanied by wonderful fresh rose with hints of apple-ish character, and jasmine. The musk is still here but stays in the background. The oud is slowly getting more and more noticeable with a resinous, deep woody feel. During the drydown, a different kind of musk reveals itself with a darker, ambery character, which serves as a perfect pairing for the oud and creamy sandalwood.
Kasturi is in the same ballpark with ALD’s Siberian Musk, Russian Musk etc., so if you enjoy any of these creations, it is highly recommended.
Overall the perfume is an amazing blend of fresh notes with high quality natural deer musk and oud. The richness and texture of the perfume is sublime!
