As always, first find out if gardenias are flowers or curtains :D
Hello and welcome to a new fragrance review from me. Today I once again had a cologne from the Turkish manufacturer Eyüb Sabri Tuncer under my nose, which comes from a sample pack from a friend :)
Well, actually I tested the scent a while ago when it was warmer than it is right now at the beginning of April :D
In any case, it is the scent "Kolonya Gardenya," which is supposedly about gardenias. This brings me, as always, to a situation where I have no clue about the subject. I keep saying this, but I really should teach myself some basic knowledge about flowers. Some time ago, I had a fragrance with gardenias under my nose, and what did I learn from that? NOTHING! :D I even have to look up how gardenias look again; I can't even remember what color the flowers have off the top of my head. I guess white! A quick look in Google Images confirms this at least, phew, at least I could remember the color, he he. Otherwise, I still confuse the flowers with curtains… :D
Be that as it may, colognes will soon become more important again, as it is sure to get much warmer after the cold April and especially the rainy beginning of May. And many colognes are quite good for a quick refreshment in between, so let's see how this one is!
Over time, the citrus notes completely fade away, but the floral scent remains, with the roses becoming stronger. However, the sweet notes become even more pronounced, especially amber and a bit of musk, making the scent quite sweet.
In the base, the citrus notes are, of course, completely gone as expected, and the floral notes are now noticeably weaker, as amber and musk now dominate more. Nevertheless, the base is perceived as floral-sweet, which in my opinion makes the scent rather feminine instead of unisex.
All in all, a nice scent that is okay, but not outstanding.
At least this applies to most colognes, and it is no different here. Although there are far weaker colognes out there. This one is at least good to smell from up close for a while. However, the scent quickly fades, so that after three hours I could hardly smell anything anymore, at least on the skin.
So anyone looking for a nice, not heavy floral and sweet scent for leisure or work that isn't particularly expensive can take a look here. Just don't expect too much; it's basically just a cologne that smells nice but isn't anything that hasn't been done before. For going out, I would recommend something else.
Well… that would be it. Unfortunately, I still don't know how gardenias smell since everything was mixed here and I could smell more amber. But maybe by the next fragrance with gardenias, I will finally have improved my flower knowledge… although I wouldn't bet on it! :DD
I wish you all a nice evening, until next time then!

The scent:
The scent starts off fresh as usual with lemons (or bergamots) and thus reminds me of quite normal, typical colognes. Then light, floral notes come in, which are surely the gardenias (I'm just guessing, because as I said, I don't know much about flowers :D). There is also a bit of rose (yes, I can actually recognize that :DD) as well as very slight cloves (hey, I'm familiar with those too :D). In the background, the scent is slightly sweet, the sweetness reminds me of amber (which it probably is, since amber is actually listed). Over time, the citrus notes completely fade away, but the floral scent remains, with the roses becoming stronger. However, the sweet notes become even more pronounced, especially amber and a bit of musk, making the scent quite sweet.

The sillage and longevity:
You surely know the formula: Cologne = weak sillage + weak longevity! At least this applies to most colognes, and it is no different here. Although there are far weaker colognes out there. This one is at least good to smell from up close for a while. However, the scent quickly fades, so that after three hours I could hardly smell anything anymore, at least on the skin.
The bottle:
Since Eyüb Sabri Tuncer also sells colognes in very large bottles, there are both plastic and glass bottles. The large ones are usually made of plastic and are only meant to be offered in sufficient quantities to guests, for example. However, I am describing the nicer glass bottles here, which have a classic cologne design. The bottle is cylindrical with many grooves, and there is a cutout where a label with beautiful gardenia drawings is attached, which also shows the name and brand. The cap is chrome-plated and ends in a dome. It's quite nice, especially for the affordable price. Conclusion:
So, this cologne turned out to be much better than the last one I tried, which was Paris Night. This one starts off fresh and then becomes increasingly sweeter and more floral. It doesn't get heavier, so it remains suitable for spring and summer, but I find that it smells very feminine like a nice, regular women's fragrance instead of being unisex. So anyone looking for a nice, not heavy floral and sweet scent for leisure or work that isn't particularly expensive can take a look here. Just don't expect too much; it's basically just a cologne that smells nice but isn't anything that hasn't been done before. For going out, I would recommend something else.
