Hello you fragrance fanatics and welcome to my new scent report. Today I tried Lipstick Fever by Juliette Has A Gun, a brand I haven't tested in a while.
Lipstick… yes, there are quite a few fragrances that smell like lipstick, even among men's fragrances there is Dior Homme, which reminds me a bit of lipsticks (or at least something related to makeup). Personally, I absolutely love Dior Homme; it’s one of my favorite scents, especially the 2011 EDT version and the Intense.
Anyway, let’s see how this fragrance smells. Lipstick is always something nice, especially on women, aaah… now I have to think of all the girls, including saleswomen in the cosmetics or fragrance departments… they always have such great lipsticks on that practically scream “Kiss me!”… *sigh* If only one would dare, argh :DD
With my "luck," it would probably be some fury like Juliette with the gun who would chase me down or something, assuming of course I tried to kiss her! But since I wouldn't dare to do that, I would somehow be on the safe side? A blessing in disguise, so to speak? :D Bah, on the other hand, I could go on and on about how you girls are completely nuts anyway, no matter what a man does, but okay, I’ll leave that for now… he he. Alright, enough rambling and digressing. I’ll apply the fragrance and then see how it smells.
The Fragrance:
Right from the start, I am greeted by a very intense raspberry scent, which is fruity and sweet. There’s also powdery iris, probably mixed with violets.
Even later, I still smell a lot of fruity notes, as well as the powdery scents of the iris and violets. There’s a bit of patchouli in there, but it remains rather weak and never really becomes intense. This might be because the vanilla becomes more intense over time. Since vanilla is also a sweet, powdery scent, usually with a strong projection, it enhances the powdery scents of the iris, resulting in a soft fragrance where the patchouli only seems to come through occasionally.
Now and then, a very light synthetic note seems to appear, but I find this rather unbothersome, as it is weak and doesn’t smell awful; besides, it hardly appears later on.
Towards the end, the fragrance continues to smell vanilla-like and powdery, but the fruity notes have now disappeared.
All in all, a nice fragrance that doesn’t seem to have any particular strengths and mostly just smells nice and vanilla-like.
The Sillage and Longevity:
The sillage is moderate to okay; especially at the beginning, I think it will be quite noticeable before it starts to weaken a bit later on. The longevity is quite long, but this is due to the vanilla, and for more than half the duration, you mainly just smell the vanilla.
The Bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and has a wine-red gradient from top to bottom. On the bottle, you can see the typical JHAG logo printed, with the name of the fragrance underneath. The cap is chrome-plated and, like most JHAG bottles, somewhat trapezoidal. All in all, a nice bottle with a beautiful color.
Conclusion:
So… now that my brother's wedding celebration is finally over, I can occasionally test a few fragrances again, at least as long as I have interesting samples or am in the city at a fragrance store where I can also test newer scents. In other words: Once I’ve tested a few fragrances again, I’ll be back to annoy all of you regularly as usual; I hope you enjoyed the time I was a bit less active here without me,… but now I’m back! Mu ha ha ha! Well, somewhat at least :D
He he, so I found this fragrance quite okay. Nothing extraordinarily exciting, but rather nice if you like sweet, fruity, and powdery scents, and of course also like vanilla, because in the end, it only smells like vanilla. You can wear it for going out since it smells pleasant, even if it has a slight synthetic touch at the beginning, which I don’t find too bad, and later you hardly notice it anymore. Seasonally, the fragrance is an all-rounder for me since it’s neither too heavy nor too light.
So, you can give the fragrance a try. It’s not a must, but you won’t go wrong if you “sacrifice an arm for it.”
That’s it from me again; have a lovely evening everyone, and see you next time :)
