Alluring Fragrance Pyramid...

...But as so often, you have to smell the fragrance first - there are often surprises.

Glow by La Rive sounded so great, so I decided to try it out recently. When my interest in fragrances began, I was so happy to learn that there are companies that produce affordable versions of good perfume. My first dupe was from the brand Caline, and I am still thrilled. Then I discovered the brand La Rive and was so happy that they have such a large selection of affordable fragrances. I have already tested many of their scents, but so far only two have pleased me. The quality within this brand varies quite a bit! There are better dupe brands (e.g. Caline, One Avenue...)

Regarding the scent: As long as I can catch a whiff of it with my nose, I can't detect any of the listed notes. It's simply a fruity-fresh and floral medley. However, it fades away so quickly that I was quite surprised.

So, in my opinion, even the 7-8 € is too much. Such a waste of resources. Perhaps the scent could have been nice, but what you get here is simply weak.

Dupe to Dupe

Some time ago, I had already reviewed this fragrance, but I tested it again before purchasing, and the result turned out to be quite different.

My shampoo was finished, so I quickly popped into Rossmann. This week, several fragrances were on sale, and I always take a detour through the fragrance aisle. Although La Rive wasn't on sale, there was a new addition, this time with a tester. I couldn't let that pass by.

For about three years, I have been a bit cautious with La Rive. Recently, there have been elements in their fragrances that my nose says we won't become best friends. There's this strange hairspray note that runs through the entire fragrance journey, and I don't like it. Since I didn't knowingly contract Corona, it can't be due to that. I perceive other fragrances unchanged.

The opening is very synthetic. A bit of grapefruit, which smelled to me like bergamot. Then a burst of artificial flowers, but none of them are discernible. After that, everything becomes soapy/musty like cheap laundry detergent. For me, the fragrance bears a strong resemblance to LA Rive Women "La Rive Woman | La Rive," which has been available several times from La Rive under different names. It also resembles "Pour Femme (Eau de Parfum) | Lacoste." Was Women revised and brought back to market as a new fragrance? That's the question I ask myself after this new test. I can't comment on longevity, as I removed it after an hour with baking soda water. It was still so present that I wanted it gone.

The bottle is simple, round, albeit a bit heavy. So it's not suitable for a handbag.

All in all, it's an artificial and synthetic fragrance. You can buy it, you won't go wrong, but I found the price of 8.49 euros too much for it. I added a fiver and bought the fragrance next door on the shelf.
