A True Freshy

With this fragrance, you can't go wrong in the summer. When you apply it, you float in a citrus heaven. The longevity isn't great, but it doesn't hurt the wallet too much if you spray it generously from head to toe and treat yourself to a new freshness kick every 3 hours or so. The bottle is beautifully appealing, colorful, and there's a lot to admire. Especially when placed well, it's a real eye-catcher. For color lovers, it's a nice collectible, but unfortunately, for extravagant fragrance enthusiasts, it's not a standout. In my opinion, you can even wear SO REAL while exercising, because it makes you smell good even if you might not look particularly great. And everyone knows that when you smell good, your attractiveness increases. The fragrance always finds a place in my handbag during the summer because I like to apply it on the go, even if I've used a different scent in the morning; SO REAL works in summer, really.

With Mom in Tuscany

Most of you here probably feel the same way: some fragrances evoke a certain memory within you. As long as that memory is positive, those fragrances are my favorites. Recently, I found myself in the drugstore with the horse logo. "Just testing, not buying" was (as often...) my motto. I actually wanted to check out those Rammstein perfumes, but they weren’t available there. The funny yet somehow ugly bottle of Cheap and Chic - So Real caught my attention. So I sprayed it, just to be safe on a test strip. Okay - citrusy-fresh, nice, a bit like Light Blue, do I need this? Probably not.

I tucked the test strip into my handbag. Later at home, I took it out again and suddenly thought of my mom... And of a wonderful summer vacation in Tuscany, where my father, due to his very rudimentary Italian skills, had rented the entire building for three weeks instead of just an apartment in a country villa. That was really ages ago, almost 30 years, my mother couldn’t have used this perfume back then. Maybe it was a sunscreen, a body lotion, another perfume? I don’t know, and unfortunately, I can’t ask my mother because she passed away in 2006. In any case, the scent doesn’t stay so citrusy but develops a very slight creaminess after a while. Even on my skin - because by now, Cheap and Chic - So Real was allowed to move in with me after all. It also becomes a bit floral, but the peony remains subtle and doesn’t become sharp as it unfortunately does with some fragrances. I would classify H/S as a good average for a summery-fresh scent. For the price, I can definitely reapply - and think of Mom :)

So real - Surreal

You can't really dawdle, wander, or meander, well, you can, but not in department stores and perfumeries. And since I needed a few haberdashery items today (what a lovely old-fashioned word!), I decided to go to the larger drugstore that, unlike my small market nearby, has a slightly broader (drugstore) perfume selection.
So I checked out what’s new (not really much, a new Laura in pink and a new white/yellow La Rive), what’s on clearance (some from Betty Barclay), and what else they have.
Then I see the Cheap and Chic line, all in 30 ml and right at the bottom of the shelf. I love love and So real are discounted, but not Olivia. So I test the two blue ones and I actually know I love love; it always reminds me of Light Blue or Desigual Fresh, nice, but I already have something like that, so on to "So Real."

Surreal, that’s how the bottle appears to me, asymmetrical, the winking eye, the colorful glass bottle, I don’t find it tasteless; I find it funny and it has a sense of self-irony. The many little symbols remind me directly of a cheerful Picasso or a mischievous Dalí.
Spain, Italy, lightness, vacation, Dolce Vita, and the scent of lemon blossom, I’m already on a little journey in my head.

Sprayed on, fresh and citrusy but slightly fruitier than I love love, without becoming a fruit salad; we remain here a refreshing little water, very Italian, invigorating, and full of cheer. The blackcurrant particularly captivates me. Later, it becomes a bit more floral, fragrant, peony but subtle, my dear jasmine, fresh and green, a few light woods, a bit of oak moss in the base, why not? It harmonizes wonderfully with the bitter orange.

So real, I call it Surreal... because I could use a little escape from everyday life... it’s a fresh light yellow sunbeam in the blue pre-spring sky, a pink cloud, and a breeze of confidence, courage, and optimism that blows towards me. Bought.

Real Life

Today I discovered a new Moschino in the perfume shop - wrapped in an attractively colorful packaging.

The outfit immediately caught my eye - but the "old" Cheap is still waiting in my scent chamber for its discovery.
I haven't quite warmed up to it yet - despite the original Olivia bottle.

However, the sky-blue flanker managed to score points with me - so what was so real?

My husband likes to call me "out of touch with reality" - and I pointed meaningfully to the tester up high.
In this case, reality was indeed far from me.
Are all realists over 1.80 m tall?
My husband gallantly fished down the pretty bottle for me - and even the first spray said: Yes!

A staircase of fresh oranges rolls down towards me, delicately sweetened with raspberries.
The peony blooms finely and the jasmine brightens the fragrance.
Despite its fullness, so real remains transparent.
The cedar adds a woody note - but it doesn't weigh down the scent.
Oak moss acts only as a whisper and adds a bit of depth.

So colorful and lively, real life can be.
Pure good mood - and this lasts for hours.

I will also kindly turn my attention back to the original mother Olivia - because the beautiful flankers cannot lie.
