The fragrance with which it all began...
Yes, that’s it! Puma Flowing was my first own perfume, and I was mighty proud of it at the age of 13. At that time, it was my only companion until it was replaced by sweeter teenage scents like Bruno Banani - Pure Woman. For a long time, I didn’t hear anything about it again - I wasn’t particularly interested either.
When I then fell in love with Parfumo together with my husband, the conversation about our first fragrance came up. For him, it was Versace - Blue Jeans. A fantastic scent, very affordable and very easy to find. It was only then that I had to realize with horror that my beloved Puma Flowing was no longer available.
For nearly a year, I searched meticulously for it until I finally discovered it as a bargain on willhaben - my heart skipped a beat! FINALLY! To get this fragrance, I had to overcome a lot of human hurdles - the seller was anything but cooperative and reliable - until I finally held it in my hands again...
... the bottle:
An inconspicuous, transparent block with a pink stopper. The liquid in my little fragrance is yellow - but I believe that’s due to its age. I remember it being clear back then. It looks quite nice overall. I usually prefer things to be simple.
... and the SCENT:
I smelled the spray head to quickly determine if it had gone off - all in the pink range ;) Even before I got home, I had to give myself a spritz on my wrist. And there it was! I had to smile immediately, recalling the scene when I was at Bipa with my parents and desperately wanted this fragrance. I can also tell you why: it simply smells so different from everything I/one had known before. It is very difficult to describe, as I can’t identify a single component. What can definitely be said is that it smells synthetic-pressing.
Somehow heavy but still carefree.
Somehow sweet without being candy-like.
Somehow fresh without being a sporty scent.
Somehow just flowing ;)
At first, I smell a sweet, fresh-floral-pressing synthetic and something in the background that reminded me of Decadence - Divine. Like a pickled salt cucumber, but not very penetrating, just subtly resonating in the background. This then dissolves after about 1 hour. The heavy powderiness of Decadence remains, as does a floral-sweet, uniquely characterful scent that cannot be compared with today’s drugstore inventory.
However, I couldn’t wear it daily like I did back then, but rather for special occasions on my part or when I feel like some nostalgia. I find it too heavy for summer, and too sweet-fresh for winter. Perhaps it is best suited for autumn and spring. SO NOW :S
Sillage:
Is quite pronounced for a drugstore scent. However, this unique character can quickly become overwhelming. I could also imagine that this fragrance could cause nausea for some people ;) so careful dosing is advised.
Longevity:
Is also very good. Generally, fragrances don’t last long on me - but this one manages to be perceivable for about 7 hours!
Conclusion:
I may be biased, as this fragrance is connected to the beginning of my perfume career ;) However, looking at it soberly, I would still say that it is definitely worth a test if you like scents like Decadence, which are somehow heavily pressing but still harbor a pleasant sweetness. Of course, Puma Flowing is not as high-quality, and it comes off a bit fresher and more synthetic, but it can still hold its own against more expensive fragrances.
For me, it is pure nostalgia - I have never smelled anything like it again... and never felt anything like it again. Unique :)
PS: Almost all the supposedly contained ingredients have now become my favorites... has there been a formative experience in early childhood? ;)
