To know, it is Platinum!
I inevitably thought of this advertising slogan from the 70s when I unpacked Platino, unscrewed the cap, carefully removed the wax seal, and pulled out the plastic stopper. However, Platino has less to do with platinum and much more with silver, as silver is called "Plata" in Spanish. And since Dana was originally a Spanish brand, the naming in Spanish is not surprising.
Javier Serra, previously the art director at Myrurgia, founded Dana in 1932 to realize his idea "Tabu" and to produce his own fragrances. His friendship with Jean Carles led not only to Tabu but also to several other beautiful scents.
Platino - Platinum is definitely worth more than just a test! Despite the sealing, the top note is no longer quite what it once was. It comes off a bit musty green and does not hint at the beautiful heart note that develops after some time.
A gentle green is accompanied by flowers. It's hard to pinpoint them, yet I would guess clove, rose, tuberose, and jasmine. The scent at this stage is surprisingly fresh and also shows a very gentle soapiness that justifies this freshness and makes Platino appear unsweetened. Various herbs are likely to play a role in the heart note, such as lavender, rosemary, or similar.
Platino is a very pleasant and wonderfully wearable daytime fragrance for both genders, even though it was launched as a women's scent. Back then, there was still a different perception of women's and men's fragrances. I love such floral-focused scents that mix in herbal notes, simply beautiful. Platino definitely belongs to this category. Occasionally, you can still find it on eBay, even at reasonably moderate prices. Unfortunately, it is no longer produced, which is extremely unfortunate. Many of the Dana fragrances are very wearable, even or especially today, because they clearly stand out from the usual mainstream.
There are perfume brands that bring me special joy. Dana is definitely one of them! The longer I wear it (already 8 hours today), the more beautiful it becomes. The base is creamy soft and sweetish. Wonderful!
