It cannot be denied:
“Reckless” also carries the typical “Roja” scent signature (its unmistakable DNA), crafted just as skillfully as its now quite numerous relatives from such wonderful fragrance notes and is not shy or quiet in its presence due to their sheer number: “Reckless” shines, radiates, and vibrates with fragrant life!
But unlike the creations I have tested recently and discussed in this community, “Reckless” is not heavy, dark, animalic-dirty, and profound, but rather floral-sweet and filled with summery life and cheerfulness.
I do not know where this peculiar name comes from: Reckless is in no way, in my opinion!
Perhaps I also missed the point in the naming of the fragrance; I cannot come to terms with it because I do not understand! Who can I ask?
Well, anyway: We all have to live with our name, whether we like it or not.
But back to the fragrance:
As already mentioned, “Reckless” is also a typical Roja Dove scent; just from its structure, as is often, actually always, found in his creations.
The shady citrus grove with its woody accents from the trees, their bark, the lacquered dark green leaves, their flowers and fruits of various kinds, shapes, colors, ripeness, and finally aroma forms the opening, the top note; the overflowing floral garden near Grasse with all its blossoms, the heart vibrating with fragrant beauty, color, and liveliness, and a warm enveloping, spice-laden smoky note form the base, in which occasionally the scratchy, barbed oak moss can be found quite naturally.
But these apparent repetitions do not matter at all:
The dosage and ripeness of the fragrance note variety and their ever-changing composition vary from scent to scent, thus ultimately creating an independent fragrance personality!
And of course, “Reckless” also greets with a fragrance fountain supported by aldehydes, bursting with sun-ripened aromas of citrus fruits: lively, refreshing, and slightly herbaceous-spicy.
The magnificent bouquet, whose lovingly and tastefully composed heart note consists of numerous flowers from the coveted white Grasse jasmine, sought after by perfumers for their creations, and the May/Grasse roses, which can only be found there and have now been "re-cultivated" after their fields were sacrificed to the construction frenzy of real estate madness not so long ago (in the 1970s) and were paved over because of this "concrete gold." Meanwhile, there are more than one initiative advocating for our beloved roses!
Richly fragrant, dark violet violets with friendly velvet faces and the fragrant embraces of the vines adorned with ylang-ylang flowers naturally join in.
And of course, the “English/Rose Geranium” with its herbaceous-spicy, so distinctive and familiar leaf and flower scent compounds must not be missing here.
For fruity sweetness, plump, ripe, juicy peaches with their rich aromas provide the touch.
This may sound kitschy and overloaded, far too pompous for the mundane reality of current life; and yet, each fragrance note has been thoughtfully selected and finely dosed to achieve this so touching “warmth.”
This floral-sweet and summery cheerfulness in the fragrance also needs a fitting rich base, which is, of course, also Roja-like:
Warm, cinnamon-spiced musk-vanilla cream with a hint of pink pepper and coriander gently caresses the already awakened senses before being embraced by the resinous, slightly sweet smoke of benzoin and styrax, the resin that harmonizes excellently with cinnamon and vanilla (I learned this many years ago from tele-shopping: so television does educate!).
For me, “Reckless” is a radiant summer day on the skin, richly accompanied by fruits and flowers, whose enchanting twilight slowly and gracefully transforms into creamy spicy musk-vanilla warmth and styrax dark violet.
I still cannot come to terms with the name of this fragrant work of art (I simply cannot associate "reckless" with the friendly, harmonious scent progression; even "daring" as another translation does not fit!), yet the sillage and longevity are again typical of Roja Dove:
Full-bodied, round, and long-lasting - a true pleasure to which I always fully surrender out of enthusiasm for these fragrances!
Whether one likes “Reckless” and its numerous relatives that roam our fragrance world or not, calling them tasteless, loud, and overpriced:
That does not disturb my personal enjoyment!
Or, to simply invoke the competition here: J’Adore! = I adore this scent!
