Yves' New Clothes
In search of a fresh, citrusy summer fragrance, I also tested this scent. I haven't had good experiences with Yves' descendants lately. Either a hint of nothing or an overwhelming blast, where a drop is enough to envelop the entire neighborhood. Gone are the days of Eglantine, Isphahan, or Ming Shui. But that's another topic.
The beginning for me was citrusy with a sharp note reminiscent of 60s hairspray. There was also a hint of Sprite soda. Everything felt very artificial. A slight touch of mint, and I couldn't sniff quickly enough before the scent disappeared. No tonka bean or any kind of finish. Within 5 minutes, the fragrance was gone. I've never seen a scent vanish so quickly.
I notice that lately the company is rapidly launching new fragrances, often as special editions, which then quickly disappear both from the skin and the market.
I couldn't help but think of "The Emperor's New Clothes" during the test, and unfortunately, I will continue to steer clear of YR's fragrances.
