Vice Versa
The opening is fruity and refreshing, I detect a slightly tart mandarin, followed by the tomato vine that takes away some of the sweetness from the fruitiness. The amber adds a bit of warmth and pleasantness to the composition, but the bitter note remains even as the vanilla comes into play. Overall, it’s quite unsweetened. Somehow, it reminds me of Jil Sander No. 3.

The sillage is moderate, the scent is present, but I don’t leave a scent trail behind me. I can really imagine this fragrance for hot summer days. The longevity for me is about 5 hours.

It was a gift from my parents back then, but unfortunately, it was never really my scent.

Fine Nectar with Berries, Flowers, and Wood
This fragrance was for many years, alongside Champagne, my favorite YSL scent. I am once again glad I prepared ahead and still own a nearly full bottle in impeccable condition. Even the color of the liquid has retained its original peach/rosé tone. After many years, I dug it out of the dark cupboard, sprayed it on, and looked at the pyramid here. Since I smell some musk and a wood note that is not listed here, I did some further research and came across this pyramid, which fits my scent perception much better:

The top notes are mandarin orange, raspberry, blueberry, and tomato; the heart notes are jasmine, African orange blossom, tuberose, freesia, peach, peony, melon, and bellflower; the base notes are musk, iris, Virginia cedar, amber, and vanilla.

Vice Versa is a very beautiful fruit and flower nectar for spring and summer. I can clearly perceive red berries, peach, melon, a bit of jasmine, and tuberose, as well as a woody undertone that smells like a very fine pencil. However, I wouldn't have figured it all out on my own without the pyramid; I had smelled more than what is indicated above and immediately knew that the pyramid must be much larger. But otherwise, I cannot identify all the individual notes. I don't need to, the scent is beautiful and one of the best that YSL has ever brought to the market. Why it is no longer produced or was only limited, and why it was not included in the YSL Collection, is a mystery to me. Just the sight of the bottle is beautiful, and I am very happy to still have 90 ml of it.

Pik and Heart
The bottle is simply beautiful! Gorgeous! Just for that reason, I would buy this fragrance. When you look at it like in the picture above, it's a spade, turn it around, and it's a red heart - vice versa, indeed.

And then there's also a peach-colored liquid inside. Thanks to a lovely parfumo member, I was able to test it today.

Basically, I find it very similar to Ergoproxy; the opening is fruity, followed by white flowers - more than just tuberose - and also slightly sweet, just pleasant enough.

In the base, I can definitely find more than just musk; wood likely plays a role here as well. The sweetness has completely vanished in the base, the scent is pleasantly enveloping and close to the skin. Truly beautiful, this "reversed" fragrance, and definitely worth a test.

The Other Way Around?!
Evil tongues would now claim that I must be particularly familiar with the topic of "the other way around." Far from it, as I certainly do not fulfill all the clichés, and I would need to research what the name of the fragrance is all about.

Vice Versa was never a bestseller, if I remember correctly. A good friend worked in the field for YSL at the time of its release, and I still recall one or two customer comments about this fragrance.

Although I was at the source back then, I only tested the fragrance today. A mistake, as it turns out.

Sure, YSL has had (or has) more interesting fragrances in their lineup, but VV has something.

VV opens with a wonderful, very zesty fruit accord and reminds me, due to its sweet-bitter note, a bit of Kir Royal.

With the heart note, a really well-balanced tuberose emerges, from which the narcotic sweetness and intensity have been taken away.

In the base, I suspect a hint of musk, as the tuberose takes on a pleasantly clean touch towards the end.

Among all the fragrance bombshells from YSL, this understated scent simply had a hard time and could not hold its own against all the other similar fragrance concepts from competitors in the market.

It's a shame, really, because VV would be a truly fine alternative to the otherwise faceless summer scents that are dumped onto the market year after year.

It just wasn't meant to be.

Dominant notes are bluebell, orange and peony. Sophisticated summery scent as the tuberose gradually grows. Interesting, playful and chic

Floral fresh, somewhat similar to Pure Poison but otherwise unique. A fresh summer scent, subtle and not long-lasting.
