A Pleasant Surprise
This was an impulse blind buy for me. I went in expecting a spicy, fresh white floral, and what I got completely defied that expectation.

The core of this fragrance is very similar to Into the Gourmand - Number 1: Velvet Shadow , Zara's own interpretation of Love Don't Be Shy Perfume . It's similarly marshmallowy, sweet, fluffy and powdery, topped with white florals and dense musk. The spicy and green elements combined with the heavy powder and musk bring to mind vintage compositions, a la Passion Eau de Toilette . That there are so many contradictory accords also pulls it into a classic, 80's space - it's powdery but fresh, creamy but green, clean but dirty, spicy but smooth.

Overall I find it addictive and intriguing. I don't think everybody will like it, so try it out in person if you're by a Zara location.

Update a year later: I wear this so much! It's incredibly elegant and incredibly cozy. Curse you, Zara, for releasing bangers and discontinuing them immediately.

In bloom
As someone musically shaped by the 90s, I naturally think of the band Nirvana and less about the extinguishing of individual existence and liberation from rebirth, hoping that the "Teen Spirit" hasn't been captured olfactorily here.

But since we're already on the topic of the 90s - Flashback while sniffing! You just have to wait long enough and ideally lean on fragrances that have been taken off the market, then hopefully no one will notice. All friends of Contradiction Eau de Parfum perk up - I think I've found your substitute!

Shades of Nirvana is white-floral! And not in a shy way!
The scent is listed here as green-woody - and I strongly disagree (based on the scent experience on MY skin). Even the bottle spoils the color scheme: it is creamy white. Period. Maybe just a tiny bit of light green... A lot of white flowers, and musk has also been used quite prominently.

Eucalyptus gets little chance against this very late 90s women's fragrance floral concoction. If you're hoping for biting/sparkling ginger like "Infusion de Gingembre | Prada," forget that quickly. There's a little bit hidden in there, but it's more fruity, also a bit sweet. No one can tell me that only jasmine is used here. I'm pretty sure there are also white roses or ylang-ylang, lily, or lily of the valley mixed in - I also feel reminded of "Dune (Eau de Toilette) | Dior."
Sandalwood serves more for longevity.

The scent is quite linear, and just two sprays are enough for my husband to wave his hand in front of his face and throw open the window on the next trip to the kitchen (he doesn't like jasmine/lily of the valley). So you definitely don't have to bathe in it for those around you to enjoy it as well. You can't really complain about the price at Zara anyway.

Lastly, a word about the packaging. The bottle reminds me A LOT of Molton Brown and some of the Limited Jo Malone fragrances. Coincidence? Intentional?

What the spiritual Nirvana has to do with 90s floral scents, however, I don't quite understand 100%. Maybe someone has an idea...

I have to agree with DasCroe. It smells like CK's Contradiction here. Powdery-warm, bright flowers on creamy wood, slightly bitter.

Fresh, clean, very clear and linear. A scent that always works and is never overpowering.

Unfortunately not as lovely as the notes suggested - more white floral/green, smells like a cheap fragrance from the drugstore. #rathernot

In the green garden, fresh air carries a few softly spicy woods among lush, white blooms. Herb-fresh and clean.

Reminds me a lot of the mid & base notes of Venetian Bergamot, basically the drydown but without the bergamot top notes. Great!
