Happy summer nights...

I was so delighted when I got a whiff of this fragrance for the first time!

With few money on my wallet and without a second thought, I decided to make mine this little treasure!
It truly makes me happy from the primarily top notes until the last closing ingredient!

It opens with an intense sweet fruity floral smell until the heart opens..
Thus you feel the delightful combination of vanilla and frangipani with some touch of dark chocolate..
The base turns into a woodsy-musky canvas maintaning the light vanilla oriental aura!

She bears the right name, a delight indeed

I am a douser, I have to admit. If a fragrance is strong, I douse a LITTLE less, but all in all I wear fragrances for MY gratification, not so much to smell good for others (with the only exception of my significant other, who, for God's sake, loves my perfume addiction.) I don't need to leave a big fume trail behind me, it is not about being noticed. The scent can be close to the skin all day, as long I can smell it and as long as it makes ME happy, that's really what matters to me!

I feel putting on a fragrance just for others (I read the statement that you are not supposed to smell your own fragrance, as this supposed to be a sign of a good perfume), is like going to bed with your partner just for his gratification. So it is just not me, I am way too selfish, so I douse along without much regard for the people around me. SORRY!

But boy oh boy, when I decide to wear Jil Sander Sun Delight, I am SO much more trigger friendly. It reminds me of Pina Colada (and I LOVE Pina Colada) with a touch of vanilla. This is so yummy, I could gnaw on my wrist. Jil Sander Sun is my signature fragrance and my biggest love affair. Sun Delight is like Sun for Fiesta time, a great frag for the poolside. It doesn't have the romantic spin in it like Sun, it is more peppy, outgoing, has a younger vibe to it and is more alluring. Sun feels almost like the older, more grown up sister of Sun Delight. Sun Delight is the more carefree one of them two. Longevity is greater than Sun and many other Jil Sander fragrances (I get 8 - 9 hours out of it without having to re-apply, opposed to round about 4 hour with Sun). I adore both beauties. SIGHT, SIGH, SIGH! Wonderful frags - not only for the summer.

Sunscreen Scent

This light vanilla-chocolate scent has managed to make me buy my third bottle today, along with body lotion and shower gel. The whole reason is that my better half regretted that I emptied the second bottle in his presence on Saturday.
Although, or perhaps because, Sun Delight is not a big fragrance, I really like it. It is sunny, light, and yet warm, pleasant, and uncomplicated.
Unlike its big sister, Sun Delight is not an olfactory powerhouse. It comes across rather softly, and yet one cannot deny a certain kinship. Sun Delight is neither aquatic nor lemony. This pleasantly distinguishes it from the usual summer fragrances. Because it does not convey the typical fresh feeling, it is also suitable for cold autumn days, so it doesn't have to go into the summer box.
Sun Delight starts off with frangipani and reseda, lightly exotic and alluring, before becoming creamy soft and gentle. One cannot really pick out the individual components; the scent is well-balanced and has a heart of chocolate. The base reminds one of good sunscreen and therefore conveys the feeling of sun and beach.
I have been approached about this scent quite often, as I also like to wear it in the office from time to time. However, it is most beautiful on summer evenings outdoors. The longevity is unfortunately only mediocre, but it does last for an evening. Given the really very affordable price, that's not a big deal; the small 30ml bottle is also easy for a woman to take along.

Conclusion: An attractive, soft, and feminine summer evening companion and compliment magnet. Not a great work of art, but easy to wear. Affordable and a nice change from the omnipresent citrus scents in summer.

Sunset at the Gravel Pit

Now let's be honest, when I approach a Jil Sander fragrance called SUN Delight, which comes in the same bottle - just designed in a different color - I really don't expect a huge surprise - do I? In fact, I wanted to get myself a small bottle of SUN again, since my old SUN had been around forever. The little old remnant had gone bad, so it was time to toss it. Instead of SUN, I spontaneously bought SUN Delight. The first spray was pleasant, and the price was good too.

However, SUN Delight is not a diluted version of SUN; I had to learn that right away! It is actually a completely different sun/summer fragrance, although from the same family, but entirely different. One should completely forget about SUN with its massive and often cruelly overdosaged scent cloud. In my view, the key note of SUN Delight is the addition of this milk chocolate note in its light version, which I find quite successful for this price range. The strength of SUN Delight lies in the middle. Here, orchid, frangipani, and milk chocolate really blend together very warmly and always in a nice light way! The vanilla does not overpower at all; it just complements the other notes. The base is somewhat subdued for me; it’s more the fading middle that delights my skin. A touch more cedar or musk would not have been wrong.

All notes are halved in dosage and slightly sun-kissed, always just 50% of all additions. The longevity is also only the light version, but for a summer fragrance, I don’t think more is promised or expected. If SUN represents the southern beach by the sea, then SUN Delight is the little bathing fun at the gravel pit, the small weekend trip to Wannsee or Müggelsee - at least for Berliners. It’s the sunset at a lake that enchants here, and anyone who has ever sat by a local lake in Germany during the summer evenings, for example in the Ruhr area or Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (I’m sure everyone has a little bathing lake nearby), knows what I mean. The skin also smells of sun and a light sunscreen, and perhaps even of the chocolate ice cream from the afternoon.

I find SUN Delight to be a nice companion for the summer at home, with the aura of a pleasant sunscreen, and I don’t mean that negatively. Overdosage is not possible here; you really have to empty the bottle completely, and even then, I’m not sure. Due to the lightness of this summer fragrance, it lends itself to being complemented by other products. I have decided that I like this scent, but only for leisure - perhaps again this summer at the local lake…

from the land of the rising sun

Yesterday, I found myself in the land of the rising sun - namely, in my Chinese nail salon.

The sun there is made of cold neon tubes, but I enjoy the quietly polite hustle and bustle of the Asian artists who converse in a melodious sing-song while they focus on their work.

Tenderly and diligently, my hands are pampered, brushed with exotic tinctures, and carefully dusted with powder.

The files fly like the wind, brushes are skillfully swung, dabbed here, painted there - and I still receive a smile and a gentle look from almond-shaped eyes.

On top of that, there’s an enchanting scent wafting from the mysterious little bottles and jars.
A smile also takes hold of my face - do the swirling aromas make me high?

My hands are becoming increasingly beautiful, so that I want to see them on the keys of my piano.

And I find this scent of sunny comfort with a touch of exoticism in Sun Delight.
Sun indulges me, alongside the fruits, with chocolate and vanilla - an aroma that also wafts towards me from my Chinese spa.
Woods and cedar add a certain casual elegance.

The sun truly rises - and Sun Delight lives up to its name.

I play "A Beautiful Day" on the piano - and my little dog listens attentively, for today is its birthday.
