Best cheapie I've found so far. Boss killer!
That Powerful Black is supposed to be a dupe of Boss Scent is, I believe, undeniable. It starts off like many inexpensive fragrances with a very alcoholic note. However, after a few seconds, a masculine, fruity top note develops that is very pleasant. Is it ginger in the top note? I can't identify it exactly, but ginger? And I hate ginger, but I really like the beginning. Could it be the Maninka fruit? I don't know, what the hell is a Maninka fruit anyway, but it smells very nice. The Boss Scent is slightly superior at the start and a bit more complex and versatile, but that's only noticeable in direct comparison. I doubt anyone could tell that without comparison. But generally, I find the opening very appealing. After about 10 minutes, the fruitiness fades more and more, and finally, the previously barely noticeable leather comes through. In my opinion, it could easily smell like it does in the first 5-10 minutes for longer; then it would really rank among my top 10 fragrances. I like the scent a lot, even if the original doesn't receive such good reviews everywhere. Unfortunately, it doesn't stay as it was at the beginning, but becomes a bit quieter and leatherier. However, this makes it a very pleasant all-rounder. From the office to a date, maybe not necessarily at 35 degrees in the gym, but definitely afterwards. So I think it's also wearable in summer, even if it fits better with the other seasons. The lavender starts to come out more after about 20-30 minutes, and the leather softens a bit. Suddenly, it becomes sweet again and a perfect companion for spring when the flowers bloom. In direct comparison, you hardly notice any difference to the Scent. The progression is sometimes a bit different, but I actually like the Caline even better. And now we come to why I consider it the best cheap fragrance I've found so far, and if you want to call it a dupe, it definitely plays in the Champions League. Powerful Black is not only very similar, it also has a fantastic opening (if you disregard the initial alcohol note for about 30-60 seconds). It takes you on a scent journey for the first 60 minutes, varying from fruity and magical to leathery and masculine, then fresh and spring-like, stabilizing into a pleasant all-rounder after 45-60 minutes. I think it smells great. It lasts like Boss's brother, not a beast, but a reliable companion, not one that disappears immediately. But after about 6 hours, only a bit of sweet leather remains, even a slightly powdery scent, which reminds me just a little of the end of Prada L'Homme, but then the air is slowly running out, making it perfect for the office. And all of this for 6 euros?!?!? And available everywhere (DM and Rossmann). The only corner or edge it has is actually the not particularly ugly, but 0815 bottle. Who cares? You can take it on vacation, pack it in your backpack, put it in the car, or quickly buy it in case you need it for some reason. The price-performance ratio is an absolute 10. For the price, it should generally be a 10, but since I would classify it as a clone (which I sometimes like better than the original), and yes, the scent should actually be rated and not the overall package, it gets a 9 that occasionally shines and then becomes a pleasant 8. The only negative is perhaps that it doesn't smell particularly complex and in the end isn't particularly special either, but still great. Feel free to spray it on your hand at the next DM and test the progressions. Suitable for a blind buy for the money. Recommendation to buy? Yes, absolutely! The best fragrance in the world, no. But which one is?
So enough rambling.
