Delicious
This smells like flourless cake batter with all the goodies in the notes added in and ready to be popped into the oven. The tropical fruits, warming cinnamon, honey and the distinct lack of vanilla makes it different from other gourmandy scents which I am really enjoying. While the plantain does not stand out necessarily, it does give an edge of rawness . It gets sweeter as it dries and I get more of the honey and brown sugar. It is festive, delicious and comforting and worn best in cool weather.

Excellent, smooth, inspiring gourmand
First proper sampling of the most recent release from Day Three Fragrances, Tres Oros, which I first smelled at its launch event at Perfumology a week and a half ago. Inspired by Dominican cake, it blends cinnamon, honey, plantains, brown sugar, pineapple, and amber, a rich, golden, sweet, but not too cake-ish gourmand expression, really the house’s first true gourmand (despite there being some sweetness in several prior entries), and I think it’ll be here to stay for a bit. It’s very easy to wear while also standing out in a positive way, an elegant gourmand, the warmth of its background and conception translating well into a wearable, lovely scent that’s likely to be mass-appealing while still being quite special, with good density and longevity.

As with the rest of the line, Tres Oros is priced at $155 for 50ml currently, very reasonable in the current market, I’d argue, and as with some of the house’s offerings, it’s extrait concentration (though most of the house’s are EDP, to date). I think I’ll have to add it to my list “to buy” from this house.

This House Keeps Getting Better
Truly, Day Three came out swinging with hits like Filosofía, Bani and La Tacita de Café. Last year they gave us a summer vacation with Escándalo which I was happy to see "lighten" the house offerings a bit. That said their last two releases have gone back to the heavier scent profiles, but they have blown me away. Aylan brought new life to the rose oud combo, and now this.

Tres Oros straddles that thing line of smelling so near edible that you almost want to lick it, but still smells like a fragrance you want to wear and not food you want to eat. I love gourmands. I have smelled hundreds of them, but rarely have I smelled one this good. The plantain here scared me. Bananas and the like have always kind of turned too ripe (maybe?) for my nose to enjoy, but this is perfect. If you enjoy gourmands at all, you simply must sample this. Each note is identifiable, but it's perfectly blended. I don't know how they did cinnamon so well. This is definitely going to be an easy fall reach.

Pineapple upside down cake in a bottle
This smells like a wayyy better Lattafa Khamrah; its sweet but not cloying and better blended. The opening reminds me of a pineapple upside down cake, you can really smell the pineapple, cinnamon, and honey. As it dries down the pineapple and cinnamon start to go away and it becomes this really smooth honey and brown sugar, reminiscent of Khamrah but way better imo. If you enjoy sweet or gourmand frags definitely sample this. 9/10

The three golds in this namesake are honey, pineapple, and plantains - knowing that helped me appreciate this more. Plantain note reveals over time
